Newsflash

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards.

The Future of IRCVPS.COM PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jon Mooney
Sunday, 13 June 2010

Within the past month or so ... IRCVPS.COM has fallen from the realm of hosting companies.  The owner of the company (Cycle) has not been seen or heard from.  The server is down as is the website hosting.  The Hosting account suspended for none payment.  Clients are left with no answers and no one to turn to on the matter.  The last activity from Cycle was months ago.

Other VPS Hosting Providers are trying to pick up the pieces.... though I have not seen another provider offer the same kind of hosting that IRCVPS.COM did.  The Channel #IRCVPS on Efnet is presently still being held with the bots loaned from the Shellreview Network.

Lame advertising PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jon Mooney
Friday, 08 January 2010

Some Shell Providers out there try shameful ways of advertising.  On Irc Networks (Such as Efnet - where alot of companies host their online support channels) some companies have resorted to shameful spamming of their company.  Some will make up a user and spam with that user and some will even use their own logins to spam their companies.

One way of doing this is joining muliple channels spam their advertisement then part the channels.  Usually the ad wont be their channel itself but a dummy channel with a WIN AN ACCOUNT deal.

Sometimes its a former client pissed off with the company that will attempt to spam them to make them look bad.  Either a client that was banned/removed for violating the TOS of that company.

On Friday 1-8-2010 such a lame advertising ploy was used in reference to Logishells and a winashell channel promotion they are doing.

Caperhosting Closes Down PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jon Mooney
Friday, 30 October 2009

It is with great sadness that we must announce the closing of caperhosting.net
Due to ever increasing hosting costs and growth just not what has been expected, we must close our signups and hosting accounts.

To our current customers: Your account will continue to remain active until your billing cycle date arrives, at which point the account will then be terminated.
Please backup all your files so nothing gets lost in your move.

We would like to thank all customers for their business.

This taken from their own website.  Customers have been reimbursed for their accounts (at least I have).  They were a decent provider with no major issues.

As of 10-1-2009 Prospeeds will no longer carry IRC Shell Hosting at the present time.  Another company that has been offline for some time now, Worxtech, said they also will no longer allow IRC Shell Hosting if they manage to get themselves back online.

Worxtech has been offline for some time with no real news coming from the companies owner.  He is a truck driver by day and Company Owner by night.  The Hosting company has taken a back seat so to speak.

www.prospeeds.net is going thru some hard times.  Members of the staff have left the company for their own reasons but leaving Prospeeds without the critical knowledge it needs to stay functional as a hosting company.  Announcing in their channel on Efnet IRC Network they have announced that as of 10/1/09 they will no longer have a Shell/IRCD server.  The Server known as Nexus will be going offline and at this point and time they have not Announced if a Replacement server will be coming or what is the future of Prospeeds.

Icex, former staff member of Prospeeds has announced that Prospeeds would no longer be doing VPS/Dedicated Hosting and suggested that he would be forming his own Company that would offer such hosting.  Paralox.org is presently under construction and its current status is Unknown.

More news will be made once we know more.
